Tree-Plenish
Empowering students to create a more sustainable and equitable future through community tree-planting

What We Do

Tree-Duce, Tree-Use, Tree-Cycle

As students, we spent a lot of time learning about climate change in the classroom, but we didn't have many hands-on opportunities to create a meaningful environmental impact on our community. So, we created Tree-Plenish.

Tree-Plenish's mission is to empower students to create more sustainable schools by replenishing the environment with the resources they use each year. With Tree-Plenish, students host community tree planting events based on how much energy their schools uses.

We also believe there is power in community. Our platform gives student leaders the opportunity to harness this power and enact meaningful environmental change.

Our Process

Planning an Event

Student Leaders plan an event in their community with a target number of saplings they want to plant based on their school's energy consumption.

Timeline: September - December

Mobilize the Community

Members of the community sign up to volunteer to plant saplings on the day of the event or sign up to request a sapling to be planted in their yard.

Timeline: January - March

Day of the Event

On the day of the event, teams of volunteers plant saplings in the yards of people who requested them.

Timeline: March - May

The leaders of Tree-Plenish are inspiring a new generation to live sustainably. Their passion and dedication have brought over 690 trees to my district and I can't wait to see how they impact our community next in building a greener future.

Why We Need Trees

Trees help us breathe.

1. One tree provides a day's worth of oxygen for four people

2. A mature tree absorbs 48 pounds of CO2 a year

3. In Chicago, trees removed 18,000 tons of pollutants a year

Trees reduce climate change.

1. A mature tree can absorb the pollutants from a car driven 26,000 miles

2. In 2017, American vegetation absorbed 11% of the nation's greenhouse gas emissions

Trees save money and energy.

1. Trees have 2 to 5 times return on investment for towns

2. Well placed trees reduce air conditioning needs by 30%

3. Mature trees can increase property value by up to 20%

Hosting an event with Tree-Plenish is the most ideal method to help out our one and only earth while also spreading love and positivity within your community!

The experience was great! The event planning was very well thought out and organized, and the event itself was incredible. By hosting the event I feel that I have made a lasting impact on my community and the environment overall.

THE MASCONOMET REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB

Together, we planted 550 trees in the community – enough to one day offset 5.5 million sheets of paper. We received nothing but positive feedback from the community and feel proud to have made such an effective impact on our environment.
